Frampton came out on top in a closely fought and very competitive game.

Frampton scored first after a prolonged period of pressure from a well drilled pack. Breaks from Mike Lynett and Ricky Sheppard brought play to within yards of St Brendan’s line which gave the quick thinking scrum half Joe Sykes the chance to dive over for his first senior try on his senior debut, Phil Salvage secured the extra points. St Brendan’s replied with a converted try after a break from deep from their full back. Salvage restored Frampton’s advantage with a penalty just before the break. Some of Frampton’s older legs began to tire early in the second half and Frampton found themselves 17-10 down with ½ an hour to go. An injection of youth from the replacements bench and a re-invigorated pack got Frampton going forward again and with the help of some fine play by young winger Ellis, Sykes crossed the line again for his second try, unfortunately Salvage was unable to convert. Frampton’s stronger pack continued to dominate and after indiscipline in the St Brendan’s ranks a penalty was awarded in front of the posts which Salvage duly converted. With only 5mins remaining St Brendan’s could not force a winning score and Frampton held on for a well deserved win.
