FCRFC Under 14s through to the Plate Quarter Finals
Under 14s face St Marys in the last match of the Gloucester Cup qualifier St Marys OB RFC U14                    28 - 5               Frampton Cotterell RFC U14s

In their last match in the Gloucester Cup round robin qualification Frampton travelled to St Marys Old Boys on Thursday 5th March for an evening kick off under flood lights.   From the kick off the Frampton pack dominated proceedings and superb efforts from the front five in the set piece and rucks had Frampton on the front foot for significant periods of the game.  St Marys were unable to effectively compete in the set piece and rucks and resorted to spreading the ball from within their own dead ball and 22 lines turning defence into successful attack.  Some poor tackling from the Frampton three quarters enabled the very quick St Mary’s full back and centres to rack up 2 tries running the length of the field unchallenged.  Now 14 points to nil down the Frampton team rallied and the pack continued to dominate and provide the platform for several Frampton attacks.  However, stout defending from the Marys back row and backs kept Frampton out until, after another successful ruck Frampton second row Harrison Tye powered his way over for his first try for the club.  An unsuccessful conversion meant the score at the interval was 21-5 in Mary’s favour.

The second half followed the same pattern though defensively Frampton improved, successfully managing to nullify the running threat from the Mary’s back line.  The Frampton pack continued to lead the effort and some clever option taking and tactical kicking from half backs Adam Pullen and Elliott Croucher kept Mary’s on the back foot and gave Frampton territorial advantage.  This pressure could not be turned into points and again Mary’s managed to break away and score what was the only score of the second half.  The final score of 28-5 suggests a comfortable Mary’s win – this was not the case and Frampton can be proud of their efforts.  This result means Frampton finish 4th in the league which sees them through to the quarter final of the Plate competition against Painswick RFC.  Tie to be played at Painswick on Sunday 15th March 2009 .
